Our Blue Guardian won the Blue Carbon Short Video Award at the 12th Ocean Geographic Pictures of the Year Competition, 2024.

The Story of Tavolara
Tavolara, an island just off the coast of northern Sardinia, Italy, boasts one of the healthiest marine ecosystems in all of the Mediterranean. It lies within a strong marine protected area (MPA) called the Punta Coda Cavallo Marine Protected Area. Although this is an example of how a marine protected area can help preserve and protect marine ecosystems, even here the effects of climate change, rising sea temperatures, and overfishing of the Mediterranean have contributed to degradation of the coral and fish life.

Cabo Pulmo's transformation from an overfished reef to a thriving Marine Protected Area (MPA) demonstrates the power of community-led conservation. This video is both a celebration of its success and a call to protect our oceans.

Alex and I started the Infinite Ocean Project in partnership with Oceans Nation and Ocean Conservancy to raise money and take action to protect our marine world.
